Yo hello hej hey hi hai, I am Rowan, & I’m gonna tell you everything that I know about orcas. Trust me, I know some things about orcas. Why wouldn’t I know things about my favorite animal. It would just be plain silly for me to know absolutely almost nothing at all about said animal since… well… you know… they’re my favorite. SO–let’s get into what I know about orcas along with some things that could be changed or improved (not written by AI I just like using semi-colons & dashes along with using “&” instead of typing ”and”).
Did you know that orcas are very social animals & love to play around with each other (sorry for any potential whiplash due to the change in tone)? Well they are; but they don’t very often interact with humans, although when they do–it’s not always a sign that something is wrong, as they are likely just curious about what you’re doing. But that doesn’t mean that they are very safe to be around (they are, I’m just building suspense with filler sentences & to up my word count). Orcas are fairly dangerous & are wild animals. But when you see one you shouldn’t start shaking in yer boots or shivering yer timbers. Just be calm & DO NOT provoke them. Unrelated but orcas aren’t even whales, they’re dolphins–so the nick-name “killer whale” doesn’t even make any sense.
Orcas may be Apex Predators & Carnivores, but that doesn’t mean that one’s just gonna jump out of the water & absolutely demolish you or anything (even though they very well could). Orcas have a very strict & distinct diet which does not include homo-sapiens. They usually just eat stuff like Sea Lions (not to be confused with Seals (they also eat Seals)), Fish, Dolphins, Some Sharks, & Some Whales. So there’s no need to worry about one eating you.
Sadly though, on the 14th of February 2010–the 24-year-old orca Tilikum had killed his trainer–Dawn Brancheau who was his 3rd victim after spending 27 years in captivity in Seaworld. Although, I would say that he was not in the wrong, as I am almost certain this was purely instinctual (this is a biased claim & from what I know has no evidence to back it up). Orcas are not supposed to be in captivity–as it is terrible for their development, & he was in there for more than double the amount of time I’ve been alive! On the 6th of January 2017, Tilikum died from bacterial pneumonia at the age of 36. There was even a movie about Tilikum titled Blackfish–although I don’t know what it’s about since I didn’t watch it, I just know about its existence.
& then my final talking point, orca endangerment. Orcas worldwide are not an endangered species, but in some countries like the US or Canada, they are highly endangered. In the Southern US–there is only a tiny group of about 70~75 orcas alive in the wild. For comparison, the average US town has at least that many people in it. It’s crazy to think about that–like some random town in like Nebraska or something has more people living there than orcas in Southern US waters.
& that was all of my talking points. I hope you enjoyed my essay. I put a fair amount of effort into it; not like a crazy amount but I tried. I hope you thought it was funny. For more stuff like this visit my website or something idk don’t tell my parents I have a website & don’t open it on school issued devices (https://waterwai.neocities.org). Ok see you later broskie dude.
